SmalleyCrest to Crest corrugated springs – C/CS

Peak-to-peak springs with flat ends ensure a 360˚ contact area, unlike traditional corrugated springs, available in carbon steel and stainless steel.

The spring is made from a single wire, the crests and waves retain their configuration.Reduced space constraints.

      C and CS crest-to-peak corrugated springs are flat-wire, multi-turn, series-wound springs.

Highly versatile, they can be used in a variety of applications such as safety valves, flow control valves and vibration isolators.

Peak-to-peak springs retain the strength and load specifications of a round wire spring, but with several advantages:

Firstly, they can develop similar forces and the same deflection while occupying half (50%) the axial space (or even less). This makes them a space-saving alternative to conventional coil springs. Operating heights, clearances and heights under load can therefore be reduced and optimized.

In addition, peak-to-peak wave springs function as bearing preloaders. This enables them to neutralize backlash and compensate for dimensional variations within an assembly.

Likewise, they are pre-stacked in series, which has the effect of reducing spring stiffness in proportion to the number of turns.

Finally, as the spring is formed from a single wire, the wave crests retain their configuration. As a result, the use of an orientation device or the need to place an indexer between the springs disappears.

Peak-to-peak corrugated springs are available in metric or inch dimensions:

CS series are metric, available in carbon steel and stainless steel in diameters from 5 to 60 mm.
C series are inch, available in carbon and stainless steel in diameters from 0.188” to 2”.

As a replacement for helicoidal compression springs, Crest-to-Crest springs can develop similar forces, yet occupy half (50%) the space, or even less.

Crest-to-Crest wave springs will maintain the same force and specifications as conventional round wire springs but with the following advantages: lowered and compacted operating heights, free heights and solid heights.
