Single-turn corrugated springs, also known as bearing preload compression springs, eliminate play and reduce bearing noise, as the constant light or medium pressure they apply eliminates play between ball bearings and inner and outer raceways.

Similarly, preloading reduces vibration and premature bearing wear through less impact and friction.

Corrugated springs offer many advantages over stamped products.

Firstly, they allow radial expansion, or diameter increase, without the locking or snagging normally associated with stamped corrugated washers.

In addition to this main advantage, they are also more precise, with a stiffness tolerance 50% greater than that of stamped parts.

Manufactured from pre-tempered materials, they also present no risk of deformation during any hardening heat treatment.

By comparison, the manufacturing processes used for corrugated stamped washers can lead to problems such as fatigue cracking and less precise, less even loading between springs.
