TI-PF3132 captive large slotted head screws, also known as captive screws, are a fastening system for thin sheet metal, enabling outer panels to be securely fastened to a target housing, and their ability to be retained in an assembly once it has been dismantled.

These captive screws, as they are sometimes also called, are particularly used in applications where loose or lost screws could cause serious damage.

A TI-PF3132 captive large slotted head screw works in the same way as a standard screw, but features a specialized reduced shank located beneath the screw head. This captive shank is designed to contain a captive washer to ensure that the screw or bolt is held in the assembly or housing.

      Principles of use :

TI-PF3132 captive large slotted head screws are easily installed by pressing into punched or drilled holes. Holes require no special preparation, deburring, countersinking or reaming.

All screws feature ends designed for precise positioning in the support sheet. Before assembly, the screw has a certain amount of float to facilitate assembly.

Captive screws can be used directly as a complete spring assembly. Once the fasteners are installed, the reverse side of the panel remains smooth.

As its name suggests, the slotted-head captive screw has a slotted footprint. The large head enables it to be screwed in and out by hand if required. Available in steel.

These cap screws are particularly useful in applications where loose or lost screws could cause serious damage.

Another advantage is that their use also makes it easy to open a panel, avoiding problems such as machine downtime, general maintenance and the need for frequent component replacement. For example, in computer housings, where they enable protective panels to be removed for safe access to the computer’s interior, without the risk of screws falling out.
