TI- PFC2/ TI-PFS2 captive slotted-head screws, also known as captive screws, are a thin-sheet fastening system for securely attaching outer panels to a target housing.

A TI- PFC2/ TI-PFS2 captive slotted-head screw works in the same way as a standard screw, but features a specialized reduced shank located beneath the screw head. This waterproof shank is designed to contain a captive washer to ensure that the screw or bolt is held in the assembly or housing.

      Principles of use :

TI- PFC2/ TI-PFS2 captive slotted-head screws are easily installed by pressing into punched or drilled holes. Holes require no special preparation, deburring, countersinking or reaming.

All screws feature ends designed for precise positioning in the sheet metal support. Before assembly, the screw has a certain amount of float to facilitate assembly.

Captive screws can be used directly as a complete spring assembly. Once the fasteners are installed, the reverse side of the panel remains smooth.

As its name indicates, the waterproof slotted-head screw has a slotted recess. Available in steel and inox.

These cap screws, as they are sometimes also known, are particularly useful in applications where loose or lost screws could cause serious damage, due to their ability to be manipulated in an assembly once it has been dismantled.

Another advantage is that their use also makes it easy to open a panel, avoiding problems such as machine downtime, general maintenance and the need for frequent component replacement. For example, in computer housings, where they enable protective panels to be removed for safe access to the computer’s interior, without the risk of screws falling out.
